Chemostratigraphy
Involves the characterisation and correlation of sedimentary sequences based on variations in inorganic geochemistry. Although the technique is often applied on a ‘stand-alone’ basis, the principal benefit to our clients is when it is integrated within the broader stratigraphic and reservoir description service.
Chemostratigraphy may be applied to strata of all ages and lithologies deposited in a wide range of environments.
- High-resolution correlation of biostratigraphically ‘barren’ successions
- Geochemical ‘typing’ of key strata surfaces for correlation above the resolution of conventional biostratigraphy
- Provenance determination
- Integration with sedimentological and biostratigraphic datasets
- Wellsite chemostratigraphy
- Non-exclusive studies
- Training
