Barents Sea 2008 Datapack

Following completion of the Phase II Jurassic and Triassic reservoir quality study, ongoing drilling in the area has resulted in additional well data becoming available on a yearly basis.

This has consequently resulted in the provision of annual stratigraphic and reservoir quality datapacks. The 2008 datapack is based on five wells, the Goliat appraisal well (7122/7-3), the Guovca prospect well (7131/4-1), the Obelix prospect well (7220/6-1) and the Uranus prospect well (7227/11-1S and 7227/11-1A). Two of the wells have core in the Jurassic and Triassic sections and logged in detail through the Fuglen, TubÄen, Fruholmen, Snadd, Kobbe and Havert Formations.

This additional data is fully integrated into previous multi-client studies from the Norwegian Barents Sea (i.e Phase I and Phase II), providing clients with updated time-slice thickness and palaeographic maps.

Available information for the Barents Sea 2008 Datapack

  • Full stratigraphic interpretation of all wells, utilising stratigraphic schemes defined in the Phase I regional study.
  • Detailed core descriptions at 1:50 scale for the cored Jurassic and Triassic successions (135.86 m of core) with updated depositional models.
  • New biostratigraphic analysis on core samples providing stratigraphic and palaeoenvironmental data.
  • Depositional interpretation of uncored intervals over the entire Jurassic and Triassic interval matched to wireline logs in each well.
  • Reservoir quality study including petrographic descriptions of 30 thin sections (plus SEM and XRD on select samples) documenting primary and secondary mineralology and quantification of primary depositional and secondary diagenetic factors.
  • Updated time-slice thickness and palaeogeographic maps for the Triassic and Jurassic interval.
  • Digital conventional core analysis data.
  • Set of representative core photographs illustrating sedimentological, ichnological and tectonic/diagenetic features.
  • Digital data export of stratigraphic sequences and lithostratigraphic boundaries.
