Barents Sea 2011 Datapack

The Barents Sea 2011 Datapack comprises data from seven wells and three sidetracks from Norwegian Barents Sea.

The study provides additional data, supplementary to that provided in previous multi-client studies from the Norwegian Barents Sea, and forms part of our ongoing programme of annual datapacks for the region.

The datapack includes exploration wells on the Caurus prospect (7222/11-1, 7222/11-1T3), Arenaria prospect (7224/6-1), Ververis prospect (7226/2-1, 7226/2-1T2, 7226/2-1T3), and appraisal wells on Tornerose (7123/4-1S, 7123/4-1A), Nucula (7125/4-2) and Obesum (7223/5-1). This datapack incorporates the main reservoir intervals of interest in the area including new core penetrations, logged in detail through the Stø, Nordmela, Tubåen, Fruholmen, Snadd, Kobbe and Havert Formations.

Available information for the Barents Sea 2011 Datapack

  • Full stratigraphic interpretation of all seven wells plus sidetracks, utilising the stratigraphic schemes defined in the Phase I regional database study and previous updates (2008, 2009 and 2010).
  • Detailed core descriptions at 1:50 scale for the cored Jurassic and Triassic successions (371.05 m of core) with updated depositional models.
  • New biostratigraphic analyses on core samples providing stratigraphic and palaeoenvironmental data.
  • Depositional interpretation of uncored intervals over the entire Jurassic and Triassic interval matched to wireline logs in each well.
  • Reservoir quality study including petrographic descriptions of 49 thin sections (plus SEM and XRD on select samples) documenting primary and secondary mineralology and quantification of primary depositional and secondary diagenetic factors.
  • Updated time-slice thickness and palaeogeographic maps for the Triassic and Jurassic interval.
  • Digital conventional core analysis data.
  • Set of representative core photographs illustrating sedimentological, ichnological and tectonic/diagenetic features.
  • Digital data export of stratigraphic sequences and lithostratigraphic boundaries.
