Jurassic and Triassic Reservoir Quality Database Upgrade

This multi-client study comprises data from nine recently, or soon to be, released exploration wells in the Norwegian Barents Sea. The study will provide additional data, supplementary to that provided in previous multi-client studies from the Norwegian Barents Sea, i.e. Stratigraphic Database and Jurassic and Triassic Reservoir Quality Database and earlier annual data packs.

The database comprises nine wells including exploration wells on the Krykkje (7119/12-4), Alke (7120/12-5), Skalle (7120/2-3S) Zapffe (7121/9-1) and Heilo (7124/4-1S) prospects as well as the Norvarg (7225/3-1) and the Johan Castberg discovery wells (formally Skrugard and Havis discoveries 7220/7-1, 7220/8-1) and Eik (7228/1-1).

Available information for the Barents Sea 2013 (Jurassic Triassic)

  • Full stratigraphic interpretation of the succession in all 9 wells, utilising stratigraphic schemes defined in the larger regional database study.
  • Detailed core descriptions at 1:50 scale for the cored Jurassic and Triassic successions.
  • Quantitative biostratigraphical analyses on core samples of newly released wells, plus a select number of new core samples to be taken from the historical core dataset to refine intervals of stratigraphic uncertainty.
  • Depositional interpretation of the entire Jurassic and Triassic interval matched to wireline logs in each well.
  • Digital conventional core analysis data coded with respect to a range of parameters including formation, sequence, lithofacies, environment, grainsize and sorting.
  • Petrographic descriptions on thin sections taken from core samples.
  • Summary of petrographic and diagenetic controls within each reservoir unit, and comparison with the larger regional database.
  • Updated time-slice thickness and palaeogeographic maps.
  • Set of close-up representative core photographs illustrating various sedimentological, ichnological and tectonic/diagenetic features.
  • Data supplied digitally using interactive GIS framework.
