The North Viking Graben and Tampen Spur Stratigraphic Database comprises of a 63 well dataset that encompasses the majority of the fields and hydrocarbon discoveries from this part of the North Sea Basin.
This includes the Agat, Fram, Gjøa, Gullfaks Kvitebjørn, Snorre, Statfjord, Vega and Visund Fields areas. The stratigraphic interval includes the Tertiary – Triassic including the main hydrocarbon bearing units of the Cretaceous (Agat) and Jurassic – Triassic, (Sognefjord, Fensfjord, Krossfjord, Ness, Etive, Oseberg, Cook and Statfjord formations). A key component of the study is the interpretation of the stratigraphic relationship within the Brent Group sequences in terms of the interplay between stratigraphic pinch-out and disconformity.
The study utilises the Ichron sequences which are calibrated with the North Sea lithostratigraphic nomenclature and also incorporates the Norlex terminology.
