2011 Upgrade Faroe – Shetland Basin Stratigraphic Database

The aim of the 2011 Upgrade Faroe – Shetland Stratigraphic Database is to incorporate recently released wells from the Faroe – Shetland Basin, Møre Basin (UKCS) and North Rockall Trough into the Ichron stratigraphic subdivision that extends throughout the Atlantic margin database.

A review of the composite well list highlighted the absence of a number of important wells so these have also been included within the 2011 Upgrade database.

A total of 12 wells have been subjected to biostratigraphic review and this has been augmented by additional biostratigraphic analysis of new and archive slides to increase the stratigraphic resolution. The Ichron sequences are calibrated with the UKOOA/BGS lithostratigraphic nomenclature.
