Ichron Personnel
Here at Ichron Limited we take great pride in our experienced workforce -over half of our geoscientists have ten or more years experience in the consulting sector. Furthermore, the multi-ethnic nature of the workforce ensures a rich diversity of cultural perspectives. Amongst our geoscientists we are lucky to include a number of acknowledged experts in specific areas of reservoir description and biostratigraphic analysis. This ensures the application of state-of-the-art techniques under-pinned by the latest scientific understanding. To reflect this, many staff members have a significant publishing record.
Ichron Limited was founded in 1995 by its four main directors: Nick Holmes, Stuart Gowland, Andrew Alderson and Andrew Taylor
Nick Holmes
Nick is a highly experienced biostratigrapher (Micropalaeontologist) with over 20 years experience in the consulting sector. Prior to the establishment of Ichron Limited he worked for Gearhart Geodata and Geochem Group. Nick’s work focuses on the stratigraphic correlation of Cretaceous to Neogene reservoirs worldwide, and includes both office-based projects and ‘biosteering’ at wellsite. He has recently undertaken significant research on the development and application of micropalaeontological facies analysis in deepwater clastic reservoirs.
Stuart Gowland
Stuart is a reservoir geologist with over 20 years experience gained through working with Poroperm Laboratories, Geochem Group and Ichron Limited. He specialises in the description of shallow-marine and continental clastic reservoirs worldwide. Working with fellow director Andrew Taylor, Stuart has developed new techniques in the description of ‘bioturbated reservoirs’. He is also involved in the collection of outcrop analogue datasets in support of improved reservoir model builds.
Andrew Alderson
Andrew is a highly experienced biostratigrapher (Palynologist) with over 20 years experience in the consulting sector. This experience has been gained through working for Paleoservices (China and UK offices), Geochem Group and Ichron Limited. Andrew specialises in Tertiary clastic reservoirs, ranging from paralic to deepwater in origin, but also has an interest in Western Europe Jurassic systems. Work is conducted both in the office and at wellsite.
Andrew Taylor
Andrew is a reservoir geologist with 17 years experience in the consulting sector. Prior to setting up Ichron Limited he held a post-doctoral research post at Manchester University and NorskHydro, Bergen, researching the application of sequence stratigraphy in shallow-marine depositional systems. Earlier, he spent a year working as a mud logger for ExLog. Andy has world-class expertise in the application of ichnology in reservoir description, and is also heavily involved in running industry training courses focussing on a range of depositional systems and play types.
